Position Summary
Indiana University Northwest, Department of Sociology/Anthropology, is seeking to fill a faculty position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Anthropology).

The Assistant Professor is a tenure-track, full-time, 10-month position beginning August 1, 2018. Responsibilities for this position include teaching three introductory courses in all four fields of anthropology. Responsibilities also include pursuing an active research program as well as participating in faculty governance and service.

Research start-up funds and summer support may be available.

One of eight campuses of Indiana University, IU Northwest is located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The campus has a diverse student population of approximately 4,000 degree-seeking students and 1,500 dual-degree-seeking students. The campus offers Associate, Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in a variety of undergraduate, graduate and pre-professional degree options available from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Business and Economics, and the School of Education. Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field awarded by the August 1, 2018 hire date. Applicants must provide evidence of skill in and commitment to both teaching and research. Demonstrated cultural competence with diverse populations and groups is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to teach upper-level courses reflecting current developments in cultural anthropology preferred. Post-doctoral experience is preferred.
